I can't believe Lionel posted this sad photo of our poor tree. The circles are all paper, cut with a craft punch from last year's and this year's Christmas cards, and some from craft paper (our advent calender was made with paper cones from the same paper). Some of them are strung like buttons onto yarn to make a garland, and some of them have a single hole with an ornament hanger. Sophie spent nearly every day of December taking the ornaments off and sometimes hanging them back up again. Which is justification enough for having a paper Christmas.

The tree skirt, an old round linen tablecloth, has been pulled aside by the cats so they can drink the nasty, piney tree water which is apparently tastier than the fresh stuff in the kitchen.

For weeks after we took the Christmas card photos, they returned to stand in front of the tree every time they saw my camera. Here, they're donning mismatch PJs and dirty, post-breakfast faces.

Postkortet finnes i privatarkivet etter Oscar Andersen (1879-1953). Andersen var predikant tilknyttet Det norske Misjonsforbunds virksomhet i Finnmark. Arkivet består av korrespondanse fra ulike avsendere i tidsrommet 1911-26, attester og andre personlige papirer og dagbøker fra tiden 1912-1915. Arkivet inneholder også to prospektkortalbum og to album med visittkortfotografier.

The postcard is from the private archive of Oscar Andersen (1879-1953). Andersen was a preacher involved in the Mission Covenant Church of Norway’s work in Finnmark. The archive consists of correspondence from different senders in the period 1911-1926, certificates and other personal papers and diaries from 1912-1915. The archive also contains two postcard albums and two albums with business card photos.

Christmas tree 2007.

I like the prettiness of Christmas. Always makes me nostalgic for when I was a kid, and my mom and I would go nuts decorating the house. We used to have relatives over then, too.

Now, my tree (when I have one; it's been years) is a little one. This guy came in a tube. I added the light, though; just didn't seem right otherwise.

I don't have any presents under it, however. That would be nice.

This is my attempt to make a tree photo suitable for a postcard or gift card or something. I like that idea.

Took my first stab at creating a bokeh shape effect last night. I simply used a business card, cutout the heart shape, and taped it t the end of my 50mm lens. (Not bad for a first try.) Worked with a few ornaments from the tree, but it's this photo with the kids' Buzz toy that I liked the best.

Day Three

This was Friday Night - that means pizza, popcorn and a movie.

The main page has a pocket made from an envelope. Inside is a card with ribbon tab and journaling about the movie we watched, and how we have Pizza night at least once a week. I also printed 2 5X7 photos (of the pizza, snuggled on the couch and our daughter watching TV) and adhered them back to back to slip inside the pocket.
