Kate designed and made all the costumes. She was Clint Eastwood from The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, Viggo (2 yrs old) was a skeleton-ghost with a glow-in-the-dark cape, I was Pippi Longstocking, and Udo (5 yrs old) was Captain Jack Sparrow.

August 17th - Notecard to Self

Not much going on today, so I took some snaps of my MOO notecards, which arrived while I was away. They arrived a bit late for Mel's birthday, and I'm kind of sad that I have to wait to give them away to people.

Orbit Business Card Holder

This business card holder is made from an Orbit gum pack I had lying around. This version of the holder is pretty simple to make and only requires a sharp knife to trim the front piece for easier access to the cards. I have also created two other versions of the business card holder (one is a display) which you can find here: The Orbit Gum Pack Business Card Holder Hack!

As for the photo itself, I used a 22" x 28" poster-sized sheet of white paper for the background and two regular 13 Watt CFL lights for lighting (no flash - I'm too cheap to buy one). This photo is straight from the camera with no post-processing; I used a 77mm Expodisc to create a custom white balance before taking the shot.

This card was given to me by Nicholas Torres, a security supervisor at 555 Mission in San Francisco.

Apparently Universal Protection Service does not realize that "photographers' constitutional rights" extend to all areas of a building that are visible from public locations, not just the areas that they want you to photograph.

Photography is not a crime.

Troy Holden was harassed there as well. He has contacted the building management company and will update his post with results.

A 1913 Christmas card illustration of winter song birds surrounded by a frame of holly. This image was scanned from my personal collection and the color restored (digitally remastered). I also retouched it to remove scratches, cracks, smudges and age spots. This is typically about a 3 hour process.

I made this e-card for Christmas, but never get chance to load it to flickr.
I am not sure it suits Russian Christmas, - I think white colour is more appropriate for orthodox.
Never mind, - I hope you like my 'art' and merry Christmas to all orthodox Christians!

The featuring tree is Australian endemic Brachychiton acerifolius,
naturally it's called Flame Tree and it blooms around Xmas time (November-December in Brisbane).

Love and hate

Feelings are not easy. Love and hate, jealousy and separation. Sometimes it is a game with the fire. If the fire is burning too much and too long both cards are lost and without the fire the tension is missing.

I do some work in photoshop but not so much, only for the red touch of the pic. At the moment I am a firebug ;-) The card game is now without the king and the queen of hearts.

Eigentlich wollte ich ja die kommenden Wahlen in Deutschland irgendwie fotografieren. Aber die große Koalition mit Angela Merkel als Herzdame? Nun gut, ich arbeite weiter daran. Habe ja noch etwas Zeit. Jetzt ist es ein Foto mit viel Gefühl, Hass, Eifersucht und Feuer geworden und ein neues Kartenspiel brauche ich auch ;-)
