Designed by Joe Swift
Built by Willerby Landscapes

This garden has been inspired by the power of plants and natural forms in an urban and suburban environment. It is a dry, sustainable garden designed for exploration, revealing areas as you move through the space.

Four bold cedar wood frames create long views through the garden, whilst dividing the space into distinct yet visually-connected areas. Stone and wood are present in conventional garden features (stone paving, walling and seating), but are also used in more stylised features such as oversized horizontally-sliced boulders, a water feature and bespoke wooden sculptures to decorate and energise the design.

The Chelsea Flower Show has been held in the grounds of the Chelsea Hospital every year since 1913, apart from gaps during the two World Wars.
It used to be Britain’s largest flower show (it has now been overtaken by Hampton Court), but is still the most prestigious. From the beginning it has contained both nursery exhibits and model gardens. Every year there have been exhibits from foreign countries as well as from Britain.
It is the flower show most associated with the Royal family, who attend the opening day every year.

Whatever you love about gardening, there’s something for you at this year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
‘Fresh’ is a brand new area that includes modern, inventive gardens with new design ideas, along with tradestands offering ingenious new products.

You too can donate towards my London marathon fund at www.justgiving.com/francisstorr

Hey, I was blogged by JustGiving recently! You can also now create your own JustGiving Moo cards. They're really good quality, look great, are cheap and quick to deliver. I got my front image from iStockPhoto, but there are are loads of other good royalty free sites available some of which offer free images, others not. But iStockPhoto has a fantastic range and is cheap. Or, you could just use Flickr's Creative Commons search and find images that you're allowed to use for free.

"Tantric Shiva Lingams"
photo show
This is the last of 9 images (and my favorite one) of a wonderful stone from India that I first saw a few years ago and had not purchased any until this year. Seen at the Tucson Rock and Gem Show, venue at the Ramada Ltd.

Some of these images are quite beautiful to me and faithfully capture how I saw them displayed this year. Each photo has another link and detail added to the description. All are part of the set I have started for this year's show.

wikipedia article about Shiva, Hindu worship and lingams:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lingam

From the dealer literature:

"Tantric Shiva Lingams", scared to the Hindu tradition, are ceremoniously gathered once a year from the muddy banks of the Narmada River, one of the 7 sacred places of pilgrimage in India. Of those found, very few have the characteristics patterning that make the Tantric Lingam so unique. They are naturally formed of a mineral called cryptocrystalline quartz, with iron oxide deposits said to have been implanted in the riverbed by a meteorite millions of years ago. Hindus worship lingams in Shiva temples as a representation of the Lord. In the Tantric tradition, the shape embodies masculine energy: dynamic expression and knowledge. The markings called "Yoni" depicts feminine energy: wisdom and intuition. Together, the female energy arouses the masculine urge to create. The mineral composition and the shape makes the stones unique as objects for meditation. They are said to contain the loftiest vibration of all stones on earth".

This article describes how the stones are pulled from the riverbed of the Narmada River and prepared:
