The Library of Congress website offers a multitude of historical images, many with no known restrictions on use. The 1904 H. C. White Co.stereograph is titled Looking over Dreamland from the top of the Shoot the Chutes, Coney Island, N.Y.
Dreamland was an amusement park at Coney Island from 1904-1911, when it was destroyed by fire and not rebuilt. Luna Park, the adjacent park where this water slide was located, operated from 1903-1944 when it was destroyed by fire and not rebuilt.

The cliffs here are comprised of dark grey - black Ordovician shales which display a Caledonian (end of Silurian) anticline-syncline fold pair which has subsequently been re-folded by the Variscan (end of Carboniferous) orogeny. In this photo the anticline, which was probably originally upright, can just be seen 'on its side' with its crest pointing to the south (left).

Technical trivia
Image adjustments and animated gif generation done with StereoPhotoMaker, a freeware program by Masuji Suto & David Sykes. The right image was scaled to 102% of the original size, losing some sharpness, and auto color adjustment referenced the left image.

Colla wants to be clear, he does not blame Sarah Palin for the Arizona shootings- what he blames is her vitriolic rhetoric that have become her character trademark.
“Whether or not Palin influenced Jared Lee Loughner, is rather beside the point. Her actions and her language have been consistently hyperbolic, manipulative and irresponsible. Palin gives speeches and the crowd tends to react to the tough-talk and rhetoric, so that’s what she continues doing it… That behavior is typical of people who participate in pageantry, but that’s not leadership. In light of the past weeks events it might be a good opportunity to examine what is effective or appropriate rhetoric and what we as a society deem unacceptable.”

Since 1998, BridgeClimb has made it possible for tourists to climb the southern half of the bridge. Tours run throughout the day, from dawn to dusk, and are only cancelled for electrical storms or high wind. Night climbs are also available.
